Welcome to the official Metropolitan Police Choir website
You were superb. You added a real sparkle to the
service and made it the success that it was.
- A/Ch Supt Ayling, Bexley Borough Commander
Thank you for a marvellous performance last week
at the concert. It was a treat to have you sing. I look
forward to more events like thus at our church.
- Barry Hingston, Priest for the Harrow Carol Service
The Metropolitan Police Choir has had a long and honourable history since it's origins back in 1872.
The Metropolitan Police Choir has entered a new and exciting era. We have relaunched as a NEW mixed choir. We are now a diverse and integrated representation of the modern Metropolitan Police Service.
Since our origins - that we can trace back to 1872 - there have been many guises of the Metropolitan Police Choir. Back in 1872 there were for example no female police officers, so the choir by default was a male voice choir. In the 1930's each division had its own choir and later still the choir became one of mixed voices. Over the passage of time the choir reverted to being a male voice choir until this year when members voted overwhelmingly to become a mixed choir once more. We are rightfully proud of our history and the previous guardians of the choir.
We are presently practising hard to learn our new repertoire in time for our first concerts and events planned for the Autumn, where we are determined to continue the high standard, quality of performance and professionalism of previous years.
We are currently developing and updating the web site and will continue to keep you informed of our progress. We hope that you enjoy looking through our site to learn more about the choir, its members and forthcoming events. Please visit our Events page for our planned appearances and engagements. We will have more regular detailed updates on our News page. Why not save us to your favourites!
